Master Batch Additives

Masterbatch additives are concentrated materials added to polymers (plastics) during manufacturing to give them color or enhanced properties. They usually come in the form of granules that are easy to mix with the base material without significantly changing the process. The main types of masterbatch are: 1) Color Masterbatch, which contains dyes or pigments and is used to give the plastic a specific color (red – blue – yellow – black – white…). 2) White masterbatch (White Masterbatch) Often contains titanium dioxide (TiO₂) which provides high whiteness – opacity – and excellent coverage. 3) Black Masterbatch often relies on carbon black which provides varying degrees of UV protection. — Additive Masterbatch These are the most important additives used to improve product properties: 1) UV Masterbatch increases plastic resistance to sunlight. Used in pipes – agriculture – bags – lamps… 2) Anti-Block prevents film layers from sticking to each other during rolling. Used in packing bags and tapes. 3) Slip Additive reduces friction and makes the surface more slippery (facilitates bag opening). 4) Anti-Static reduces static electricity on surfaces (important for electronic packaging). 5) Anti-Oxidant improves the product's resistance to oxidation and heat during operation. 6) Processing Aid enhances processing properties in the machine and increases productivity. 7) Clarifying Agent improves transparency in PP and PET. 8) Flame Retardant to make plastic fire-resistant. 9) Anti-Microbial / Anti-Bacterial to prevent bacterial growth (used in packaging, household tools, children's products). 10) Foaming Agent used to make lightweight products (such as foam and some packaging). 11) Calcium Carbonate Fillers fillers to reduce cost and improve hardness. — Where is masterbatch used? Bag and packaging manufacturing, water and irrigation pipes, household plastic products, food and cosmetic packaging, wires and cables, injection and blow molding.
